As the UK’s most established 4 x 4 and luxury vehicle manufacturers, Land Rover have developed an enviable reputation for creating off-road and multi-terrain vehicles that have unrivalled levels of style and performance. From the original days of the Range Rover Classic & Land Rover Defender right up to today’s modern Range Rover Vogue, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Evoque and not to forget the Land rover Freelander and Land Rover Discovery models right up to the latest Land Rover Discovery 5 model, it’s essential that these unique vehicles are maintained to the highest possible levels and all essential repairs are carried out in-line with Land Rover’s specific guidelines.
Whilst many independent workshops lack the skills and knowledge required to carry out Land Rover servicing and repairs or lack the necessary specialist tooling within their workshops, Auto Expert have the factory diagnostics equipment in house and access to Land Rover online with factory wiring diagrams and workshop manuals and all the main agent servicing options including completion of the online service history at their Lytham St Annes based workshop.
We have experience in the usual Land Rover / Range Rover faults which include oil leaks, diff leaks, blocked DPF’s, air suspension faults, electrical faults, parking brake faults plus we can supply and fit tyres, repair air conditioning systems and carry out four wheel alignment.
With the recent introduction of block exemption Auto Expert can carry out Land Rover servicing without affecting your warranty, ensuring that you no longer have to take your car to be serviced at a Land Rover main dealer. We know how important keeping your vehicle on the road is to you so our expert technicians are fully trained to ensure you and your Land Rover are looked after in a friendly and professional manner.

The 12V battery charge warning lamp illuminates briefly when the vehicle’s ignition is switched on to check the bulb is working. As soon as the engine is started, the light should go out. If it doesn’t, or it comes on while you’re driving, there’s a fault with the charging system.
When the vehicle is in motion if a passenger’s belt is unbuckled then the warning lamp will illuminate, accompanied by a chime. The lamp extinguishes when the relevant seat belt is buckled. This light will also come on if you place a heavy item like a bag on a seat (not recommended).
The brake warning lamp illuminates briefly when the ignition is switched on. It should go out and stay off while you’re driving. If it comes on, you could have a fault in your brake system or be running low on brake fluid. Stop as soon as you safely can do so, check the fluid level and top up if necessary. If the light stays on, call us.
The red triangle symbol indicates a critical warning – the instrument panel will also show a message about the issue.
If the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) warning lamp illuminates, the level of DEF is seriously low. Follow the on-screen messages as your Land Rover will not run when the DEF reservoir has run dry. The lamp also illuminates if the incorrect fluid has been added to the system, or if there is a fault with the system. Call us straight away.
The engine temperature warning lamp illuminates when the engine’s temperature is too high. Carrying on could irreparably damage your engine so stop as soon as you can!!
The exhaust filter warning lamp illuminates when the DPF exhaust filter is full or blocked or there is a fault with the exhaust filter system and has failed to regenerate or clear. There are multiple reasons why this could occur. We follow the Land Rover test plan to find out exactly what is going wrong. This blockage can be caused by underuse or driving style. It is important to get this looked at straight away to avoid further damage.
When the lane departure feature is active, you should always use your direction indicators before crossing a lane marking. If you don’t do so, the red lane departure warning lamp will illuminate (showing which lane boundary you’ve crossed). You will also feel a vibration through the steering wheel.
If the low oil pressure warning lamp flashes or comes on while you’re driving, stop the vehicle as soon as you can safely do so. Switch off the engine immediately. Check and top up the oil level, if necessary. Start the engine. If the lamp remains illuminated, switch the engine off and contact roadside assistance to be recovered straight to us!
The Hill Descent Control (HDC) lamp illuminates continuously when the HDC system is selected and the system is controlling a steep descent. If the lamp flashes, HDC has been selected, but the operating conditions are not being met or HDC fade-out is occurring.
The airbag warning lamp illuminates, as a bulb check, when the vehicle’s ignition is switched on. The lamp extinguishes after 6 seconds. If the lamp illuminates again, there is a fault with the airbag system. Contact us as soon as possible.
The ABS warning lamp illuminates briefly when the vehicle’s ignition is switched on. If the lamp remains on, or illuminates while driving, there is a fault with the ABS system. Drive with care, avoiding heavy braking. This is a safety issue and needs immediate attention.
The brake warning lamp illuminates briefly when the vehicle’s ignition is switched on. If the lamp illuminates after starting the engine, or while driving, your Land Rover’s brake pads could be worn. Alternatively, there could be a fault with the braking system. You can still drive with care but call us to get booked in soon!
The check engine warning lamp will illuminate when the vehicle’s ignition is switched on but goes out once the engine starts. If it comes on when the engine is running, an emissions-related fault has been detected. The vehicle remains safe to drive with the lamp illuminated but reduce the vehicle’s speed as soon as it is safe to do so and contact us!
While the lamp is illuminated, the engine may also enter limp-home mode, reducing the engine power to prevent damage.
The Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) lamp flashes briefly when the system is actively working, such as intervening to prevent wheelspin. If there is a fault with the system, it will stay on and the instrument panel will show a warning message. The vehicle can still be driven, but DSC won’t be operating. As this is an important safety system this needs sorting straight away.
The Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) OFF warning lamp illuminates when the system is switched off. The lamp is accompanied by a chime and a confirmation message in the instrument panel.
The lamp illuminates to warn you that the temperature may be low enough for ice to form on the road surface.
This lamp illuminates when the adaptive cruise control system is in follow mode.
The general warning amber information message lamp illuminates when a non-critical warning message, or an information message, is showing on the instrument panel.
The glow plug lamp illuminates amber when the vehicle’s ignition is switched on, to indicate that the glow plugs are active. The lamp will go out once the engine is running.
The low fuel warning lamp illuminates when the fuel level is low, indicating that you should stop for fuel at the earliest opportunity. The arrow shows which side of the vehicle the fuel filler flap is located.
The rear fog lights indicator lamp remains on when the rear fog lights are switched on.
The Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) lamp illuminates when one or more tyres are significantly under-inflated. The instrument panel also displays a warning message. Stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so. Check the tyre pressures. Inflate to the recommended pressure. I

EXCELLENT Based on 147 reviews Miriam Carter2025-01-02Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Best garage ever! We were staying around the corner from this garage on holiday, foot-plate came loose underneath car & dragging along the ground, so we couldn’t drive home. Phoned them at 8.30am, car fixed & back on the road by 9.15am. Very grateful 😊 Sam Mcdermott2024-11-13Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent service. I had a problem with a van door being jammed half open, Auto expert had me back on the road within a few moments. Can't recommend them enough. Thank you guys. Alan Wood2024-09-15Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent customer service. Wayne was very professional and helpful on the day I picked up the car. I have had a couple of small issues and Phil arranged for Paul to collect the car from the hotel to remedy these. Phil provided an excellent service from viewing the car to arranging to picking it up. The customer service is excellent, I live in Durham and nothing is a problem. I would definitely recommend this garage, thank you Phil, Wayne and Paul. Lynda Casserly2024-09-12Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Whilst visiting friends in Lytham, a long way from home in Scotland, our Landrover broke down with very worrying engine warning light and reduced performance. We took the car to the first Landrover garage we found on Google which was AutoExpert in Lytham. Although they were massively busy, they put the car through diagnostics to discover the turbo had packed up. Amazingly they offered to fix the car, despite how much work they had on and were able to turn it round in a matter of days. When you’ve got a problem like this hundreds of miles from home and the manager, Simon, sits you down and says, “We’re really busy but I’m not going to turn you away, we’re going to get it fixed”, it’s gold standard customer service! The technicians were great too, explaining clearly what the problems were and Andy did the job and explained a bit of after-care procedures. The price came in just a tad over the estimate and I’m delighted with the quality of work and service from everyone in this team at Lytham. Thanks again. Joshua Hocking2024-09-05Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Booked my car in for some work, Simon was extremely helpful, friendly and quoted a great price for what I needed. Highly recommended Kelly Farrington2024-09-05Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I cannot recommend highly enough Auto Expert . I’ve recently had a couple of incidents which left me in a really difficult situation and the team at Auto Expert came to my aid immediately. Their professionalism , customer care and quality of work is outstanding. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Thank you. Pam Gregory Joe Wilkinson2024-09-04Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Service here is absolutely second to none. Car broke down early Thursday morning, contacted a member of the team in a panic and immediately they assured me they could collect the vehicle from its location and provide a courtesy car. Received the courtesy same day, within 3/4 hours to be precise and have been under no pressure to change or return it until the work had been fully completed. Cost of the repairs are what they are, but at the end of the day you pay for quality bits and service and it is truly worth it. Special mention to Simon the boss over there for his patient and understanding approach. And Phil for answering the phone at 7am. Kel2024-09-03Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent customer service! I found I had a flat tyre after returning to my car in Lytham. 2 local garages within 100yrds declined to help and said they were too busy to fit me a new one. I called Auto expert and Simon offered to help, he even sent out his team to re-inflate my tyre enough for me to drive safely to his garage a mile away as I didn't have a spare. What an absolute genuine act of kindness and he didn't even charge me for the call out. I would not hesitate to use Auto expert again, in fact they will now be my go to garage!
