EXHAUSTS

DPF, Exhaust and Catalytic Converters

We are highly experienced at diagnosing issues with DPF systems! And it’s no surprise, as the exhaust and DPF system is one of the most hard working components on your vehicle. It is constantly in use whilst the engine is running.

Over time the exhaust DPF can become full of soot or in some cases where there are other faults with turbos for example, oil can clog up the DPF. For this we offer a deep clean treatment and this is guaranteed to work on 95% of cars, dependent on the level of soot or oil and the condition and age of the filter. If it doesn’t work we’ll take the cost off the DPF replacement, assuming we do the replacement for you.

What Are The Signs Of A Blocked DPF?

  • You feel a loss of power in your engine (limp mode).
  • The DPF light will appear on your dashboard.
  • Passive and active regeneration keep failing.
  • A pungent smell of diesel.
  • Automatic Stop-Start System Not Working.
  • Your car seems to be releasing an excessive amount of smoke

Can you ignore the DPF light and carry on driving? Technically yes, but we would not recommend it. If you ignore the DPF light and continue driving, the build-up of soot will soon reach a point whereby your car has to enter ‘limp-home’ mode in order to prevent any damage to the engine.
